Only we ran into budgetary issues and realized the cost of shiplap was way too prohibitive for us. The weather outside is frightful and I’ve had a chill in my bones for weeks now. It must be Christmas time! This year, I’m dedicated to decorating my home in a cheerful and seasonal aesthetic but without all the headaches of over-the-top decor. I don’t have a lot of spare time. I don’t have a lot of spare money. So I’m doing my best to incorporate our existing decor into our (new-to-us) home.
I’m always hearing from people who say they just can’t pinpoint their style. I totally understand that. People like pretty things. So when a room is pretty, regardless of the style, we tend to consider it “our style” simply because we enjoy looking at it. But simply enjoying looking at it doesn’t make it appropriate for our own homes.
I love sharing my DIY home decor projects with you but the last one (this DIY cardboard cornice) got a little out of hand. It was genuinely SO SIMPLE and really took less than an hour, but HOLY MOLY the tutorial was long and it took hours to explain how each little step came together. So in the spirit of saving time, I’m here today with a quick and easy DIY you can master in 3 steps or less to achieve a look that’s super high-end.
It seems like people mostly assume Fall is a style and they don’t want to commit to a complete overhaul of their spaces for just a couple of months’ impact. I totally get it. I wouldn’t do that either! So instead, I’m showing you how I’ve updated my own living room with autumnal touches that stay true to my own style. The impact is the same (some might even say better) but the effort is minimal.
I’ve been talking about working on this bedroom for a while now. Every couple of months, I make one little tweak, anticipating it will be the catalyst of a much larger project. Then I get side-tracked. I lose interest. I find another room to work on. Probably because none of these little tweaks ever felt exactly the right direction, I just kept moving on and then coming back.
As soon as I saw this bathroom, I felt an immediate urge to show the world how lovely a pink bathroom could be. Is it ideal to have a room full of pink tile? Well, not exactly. But it’s easier to decorate around pink tiles than you think if you lean into the fun nostalgia.
