A Romantic Ski Chalet: How To Re-Use Your Christmas Decor for Valentine’s Day
I’ve left my Christmas decor up a little longer and really stretched its life by transferring it into this adorable – and romantic – chalet tablescape. Today I’m showing you how I DIYed it and how you can too!

I started with a simple base – this red velvet fabric that I use as a Christmas tree skirt.
You can see the full Winter Home Tour, with all of my Christmas additions, here: How To Decorate With Traditional Holiday Decor On A Budget.
For snow-capped mountain peaks, I turned some mixing bowls upside down and covered with fluffy, white upholstery batting to mimic snow. If you have any of that fluffy artificial snow laying around, it would work as well!
Next, I pulled the wooden houses and trees I used to decorate our living room and layered them into the snow. I especially love the large wooden skis I scored at the Target Dollar Spot a few years ago. They really make this whole look!
With those elements in place, I wanted to layer in some plaids to really drive the winter theme home. I cut down an old scarf into napkins and they look great! They complement the gingham appetizer plates so well!
Now it’s time to layer in the romance!
So far, everything I’ve used in this tablescape was recycled from Christmas.
To continue this budget theme, I added my everyday Champagne glasses (what? like you don’t have everyday Champagne and then special occasion Champagne???). A single raspberry makes them look extra lovely.
A single bouquet of grocery store red roses really took the romance to the next level!
On the menu? Fondue, of course!
Nothing feels more perfectly romantic and chalet than a pot of bubbling cheese and strawberries dipped in chocolate!
Some Dollar Store heart doilies finish out the placesettings and a single chocolate truffle goes a long way!
What’s Valentine’s Day without Champagne? Can’t forget that!
